First Round of 2014 CCMA Award Winners announced as part of Country Music Week

September 5, 2014 (Edmonton, AB) – In the first of four awards ceremonies taking place as part of Country Music Week®, the Canadian Country Music Association® (CCMA®) revealed today the winners in 14 industry categories for the 2014 CCMA Awards. These are the first of over 40 awards to be presented during Country Music Week, on now through September 7.
“The CCMA Awards that were presented today recognize some of Canada’s most influential professionals in the music industry,” said Don Green, President of the CCMA. “During Country Music Week, we take the time to appreciate and commend all facets of country music, and today was no exception. From radio to retailers and country clubs to country festivals – it takes a wide array of committed professionals to propel Canadian country music, and we’re thankful for them all.”

Tomorrow (Saturday, September 6), at the CCMA Gala Dinner & Awards, a total of 11 awards will be presented, in addition to the CCMA Awards of Achievement and Canadian Country Music Hall of Fame presentations. Later that evening, seven awards, celebrating musicians, will be presented at the CCMA All Star Band Awards.

Country Music Week 2014 culminates on Sunday, September 7 at the 2014 CCMA Awards Show where eight CCMA Awards will be given away live from Rexall Place. The 2014 CCMA Awards Show, hosted by Jann Arden and Rick Mercer, broadcasts on CBC-TV at 8:00 p.m. local time (8:30 NT) with an encore airing on CMT (Canada) at 10:00 p.m.
