Mallory Johnson Wins the 2017 CCMA Spotlight Performance Contest
(Toronto, ON) June 23, 2017 – The Canadian Country Music Association® (CCMA®) is pleased to announce that Newfoundland and Labrador’s Mallory Johnson is the winner of the 2017 CCMA Spotlight Performance Contest. Mallory was selected to represent MusicNL in this fan-voted contest hosted online by the CCMA.
The highlight of winning the CCMA Spotlight Performance Contest is securing a performance spot at an official CCMA-sanctioned event during PotashCorp Country Music Week, taking place this year in Saskatoon, SK from September 7 – 10. An announcement will be made later this summer to share the news of which event Mallory will perform on.
In addition to her performance spot at an official CCMA-sanctioned PotashCorp Country Music Week event, Mallory will also receive a full delegate pass to PotashCorp Country Music Week, accommodations and airfare to the event, and a one-year membership to both the CCMA and MusicNL.
“Mallory Johnson is one of the best country musicians to emerge from our province in the past few years and we know she’ll take advantage of this incredible opportunity,” said Rebekah Robbins, Program, Marketing and Communications Director for MusicNL. “The CCMA Spotlight Performance Contest is a wicked way for provinces to put forward our homegrown talent. We can’t thank the voters enough for their support.”
“Thank you to the CCMA, MusicNL, and all of those who took the time to vote and give me this unbelievable opportunity to perform in front of my peers, mentors and industry professionals,” said Mallory Johnson. “I’m overwhelmed with the amount of love and support I’ve received through the whole process, and I can’t wait to represent the East Coast and my beautiful province of Newfoundland and Labrador during this year’s PotashCorp Country Music Week in Saskatoon!”
Thank you to the Provincial Country Music and Provincial Music Industry Associations from across Canada who supported and endorsed their local country talent in this national initiative.
Be sure to cheer Mallory on and congratulate her on a job well done when you see her in Saskatoon this September.
