Submission-Based Songwriters Selected for the 2016 CCMA Songwriters’ Series
WHAT:
Presented by SOCAN and ole
The CCMA Songwriters’ Series celebrates the crafting of original songs andthe stories behind the words, indulging listeners with
both new and familiar faces in the process. Many consider the greatest aspect of country music, and the facet that makes it resonate the most as a genre, is its songwriting. This acoustic performance event is a marque series within Country Music Week and is perfect
for anyone who enjoys the art of storytelling or appreciates the craft of songwriting.
Four sessions comprise the CCMA Songwriters’ Series, which will take place over the four days of Country Music Week.
Each session features eight Canadian country singer/songwriters; with the exception of the fourth session, being held on Sunday,
September 11, which features four masterclass musicians from both sides of the border.
Twelve artists, those listed below, earned their stature as a performer in the CCMA Songwriters’ Series as the result of
a submission-based process that was juried by a collection of industry representatives from across the country. The remaining
artists, who will be announced in July, will be selected by a talent advisory committee compiled of industry professionals.
The CCMA extends its congratulations to the acts listed below.
