Submission-Based 2017 CCMA Awards: Applications Now Open

The deadline for the submission-based awards has been extended to Wednesday, June 21 at 5:00p.m. ET. 

The Canadian Country Music Association is now accepting applications for the following submission-based awards of the 2017 CCMA Awards Program:

ARTIST AWARDS
Interactive Artist or Group of the Year

RADIO AWARDS
Radio Station of the Year (Large Market) 
Radio Station of the Year (Medium or Small Market)
On-Air Personality(ies) of the Year (Large Market)
On-Air Personality(ies) of the Year (Medium or Small Market)

INDUSTRY AWARDS
Recording Package of the Year

The application process for the above submission-based 2017 CCMA Awards is open from Wednesday, May 31 at 10:00 a.m. ET until Wednesday, June 21 at 5:00p.m. ET.

The Rules and Regulations for each award category, along with submission instructions, are outlined below. 

INTERACTIVE ARTIST OR GROUP OF THE YEAR
The eligibility period for Interactive Artist or Group of the Year is March 1, 2016 to April 30, 2017. Only submission elements from this period will be accepted. 

This award is presented to an act (solo, duo or group) in the Canadian country music industry who participates in meaningful digital interaction with fans within the current eligibility period. Voters and jury members should give consideration to all aspects of an act’s interaction with fans – including, but not limited to, quantity and quality – via social media platforms (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube, etc.) and website (content, graphic design, layout, etc.). Consideration will be given to campaigns/initiatives/focuses that showcase an act’s innovative, original and engaging thinking.

All submissions will be presented to a panel of music industry/social media professionals within Canada who will determine the final five (5) nominees based on the strength of each submission. The final five (5) nominees determined by the jury will appear on the Third and Final Ballot for eligible CCMA Members to vote on.

RADIO STATION OF THE YEAR (Large Market)
RADIO STATION OF THE YEAR (Medium or Small Market)

The eligibility period for the Radio Station of the Year Awards is March 1, 2016 to April 30, 2017.

These awards are presented to Canadian country music radio stations that exemplify the development of Canadian country talent through a presentation of the music on their stations within the current eligibility period. Community involvement, promotions, leadership and recognition will all be taken into consideration.  

Any Canadian country radio station is entitled to submit for consideration; however the individual making the submission must be a CCMA Member in good standing. A jury of industry professionals will independently judge each submission. The tallied results of the jury will declare the winner. There is no CCMA Member voting in this category. One award is presented to the Radio Station of the Year in each market category.

ON-AIR PERSONALITY(IES) OF THE YEAR (Large Market)
ON-AIR PERSONALITY(IES) OF THE YEAR (Medium or Small Market)

The eligibility period for the On-Air Personalities of the Year Awards is March 1, 2016 to April 30, 2017.

These awards are presented to Canadian country music on-air radio personalities who exemplify the development of Canadian country talent through their presentation on-air for a Canadian country radio station within the current eligibility period. Jury members give consideration to all aspects, including but not limited to, the personality(ies)’ on-air presentation, market share/ratings information, community service, industry involvement and charitable contributions.

Any Canadian country radio station is entitled to submit for consideration; however the individual making the submission must be a CCMA Member in good standing. The individual for which the application is for must have been employed and in the position acknowledged for the award for a minimum of 50% of the current eligibility period. A jury of industry professionals will independently judge each submission. The tallied results of the jury will declare the winner. There is no CCMA Member voting in this category. One award is presented to the On-Air Personality(ies) of the Year in each market category.

RECORDING PACKAGE OF THE YEAR
The eligibility period for the Recording Package of the Year is March 1, 2016 to April 30, 2017. Only submission elements from this period will be accepted. 

This award is presented to the design team who has created a physical album (CD, EP and/or vinyl) or single (digital), as listed within the album’s liner notes or as listed on the completed submission form (single), featuring original artwork, released within the current eligibility period. Voters and jury members should give consideration to all aspects of the given recording package, including but not limited to the strength and cohesiveness of the design concept of the whole package (including the disc), typography, materials used, marketing potential and connectedness to the music and/or recording artist.

A jury of industry professionals will judge submissions to determine the final five (5) nominees, which will appear on the Third (and final) Ballot for eligible CCMA Members to vote on.

The CCMA Award winners in each of the above categories will be announced during PotashCorp Country Music Week 2017, being held in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan from September 7-10.
