(Toronto, ON) February 1, 2017 – The Canadian Country Music Association (CCMA) is pleased to announce a multi-year partnership with the country’s leading audio entertainment company, SiriusXM Canada. The two companies will collaborate to create an optimized emerging artist program and talent search for country music artists.

SiriusXM Canada, a long-time supporter of the CCMA, has previously covered and promoted CCMA Award nominees, Country Music Week and the CCMA Awards Show broadcast, including the presenting sponsorship of the CCMA Rising Star Award, won in 2017 by Meghan Patrick.

In 2013, the CCMA introduced its Discovery Program: a national initiative developed to educate and support artists in their pursuit of a career in the country music industry. Now, stepping into 2018, SiriusXM Canada and the CCMA are joining forces on a new national country talent development program and competition that will combine the best methods from both the CCMA’s Discovery Programming and SiriusXM’s 13+ years of supporting Canadian artists. This strategically crafted program will give emerging artists the boost they need to rise above the competition, propelling their careers to the next level.

“We are thrilled to start this new chapter with SiriusXM,” said Tracy Martin, Interim President of the CCMA. “Their dedication to promoting and breaking new talent aligns perfectly with the CCMA’s mission to Educate, Elevate and Celebrate country music in Canada. The CCMA team is delighted to be working together with SirusXM to give new and emerging artists this launch pad”.

“Combining forces with CCMA is going to create the best possible program to give emerging artists new opportunities and exposure,” said Jeff Leake, Director, Music Programming, SiriusXM Canada. “SiriusXM is committed to providing a platform and support for Canadian artists through our North American-wide reach, our financial contributions and our partnerships across the industry."

Registration to participate in the new emerging artist program will open later in February. More details will be announced soon.
