BIOGRAPHY:

Bill Anderson’s 25 years in country radio have helped introduce the genre to millions. In the early 1970s, Anderson helped the late Dave Johnson create Opry North, which eventually led to the creation of Big Country, a syndicated show that Anderson wrote, producer and hosted and which was heard for close to ten years on over 100 stations by more than a million Canadians every week.

Anderson was also one of the early directors (1977 – 1985) of the CCMA, guiding the organization through a period when it was merging into its present form; when its first member-organized conventions were held; and during the creation of the first CCMA Awards.

As a committed, enthusiastic, knowledgeable broadcaster who helped build both Canadian country music and the strength of the organization which fosters that music, Bill Anderson was a significant force on country music in Canada.
