Curley Gurlock

  • Inducted into the Canadian Country Music Hall of Fame in 2006
  • Death: Camrose, Alberta, 1995

BIOGRAPHY:

A legend in Alberta country radio, Curley Gurlock began his on-air career in 1952. He was known as the DJ to play the latest release by a Canadian country recording artist, usually inviting them to join him on-air for a brief ‘chat’. Gurlock was so admired by country performers that several ‘tribute’ songs were recorded to honour and recognize his support, including Ray Griff’s 1983 song Curley. Gurlock passed away in 1995.
